Online poker tournaments are massive on Sundays and this fact along brings out the game’s best players. Michael Addamo, Timothy Adams, and Justin Bonomo are just three of those stellar names who managed to take down a Sunday major this weekend.
Addamo Takes Down GGPoker Sunday 500 High Rollers $5,250
Michael Addamo enjoyed a super Sunday courtesy of triumphing in the Sunday 500 High Rollers $5,250, a tournament that attracted 113 of the world’s best players to the GGPoker virtual felt.
Addamo’s first bullet didn’t go to plan and he crashed out in 76th place. He re-entered and put used his new stack to full effect.
The likes of Kristen Bicknell, Matthias Eibinger, Elio Fox, Benjamin Rolle, and Anatoly Filatov busted inside the money places but before the star-studded final table.
Austria’s “Filip1” was the final table’s first casualty. Their ninth-place exit awarding a $14,833 prize.
Alex Foxen and David Yan then busted. Yan would go on to take down Sunday High Rollers Bounty King $3,150 for $49,300 later in the evening.
The exits of Michael Zhang, Aleksei Barkov, Pascal Hartmann, and David Peters left Addamo heads-up against Wiktor Malinowski. Addamo rarely loses when he’s heads-up and that was the case again here. Addamo collected $131,187 for his victory while Malinowski banked $99,898 for his runner-up finish.
Defeating Malinowski will go some way to making up for losing a massive $842,000 cash game pot last year.

Adams Takes Down High Rollers Blade Prime $2,625
Timothy Adams’ latest victory came in the High Rollers Blade Prime $2,625, an event that saw 80 players buy in.
All but two of the players who navigated their way to the final table walked away with five-figures hauls. Fedor Holz and Andrii Novak being that duo.
“LeoJose” fell in seventh and was joined on the rail first by Artur Martirosian, then by Urmo Velvelt, Rainer Kempe, and China’s Kevin Pu.
This left Adams, on his one and only bullet, heads-up against Arsneii Malinov. Malinov fell at the final hurdle and scooped $36,565, which left Adams to add the $46,885 top prize to his GGPoker account.

Peter Traply Nets Sunday Super Sonic Top Prize
Peter “Belabasci” Traply triumphed in the PokerStars $215 Sunday Supersonic and banked a cool $20,378. That only tells part of the story, however, because the Sunday Supersonic is a hyper-turbo structured tournament meaning Traply’s victory only took one-hour 13-minutes for an hourly rate of $16,750, which is nice work if you can get it!
Runner-up “mindreader007” and third-place finisher “acesdesigner” were the two other finalists whose $215 swelled to a five-figure score. Second-place weighed in at $14,591 with the third-place finisher collecting $10,448.

Rosie’s Gaming Emporium opened doors on January 8. It is a 19,000-square-foot gaming center with 95 video slots, located in the Triangle Shopping Center in Dumfries. Colonial Downs, the property’s owner, now proposes another building, which is a massive $389 million casino resort on the grounds of Potomac Landfill, a debris junkyard on the edge of town.
The future facility would be called “The Rose” and would be the first in Virginia with this size, providing such gaming options.
According to the plan for “The Rose”, the facility will consist of 50,000 square feet of gaming space, a 250-seat sports bar, as well as other bars and restaurants, 200 hotel rooms, a theater with 1,500 seats and 7,000 square feet of meeting space.
Colonial Downs, which owns Rosie’s and operates a racetrack in New Kent County near Richmond, as well as four other Rosie’s emporiums across the state, will pitch its idea today during a 7 a.m. Dumfries Town Council meeting.
The new facility is hoped to bring a lot of profit to the town. It is expected to create 640 jobs that pay $15 an hour wage. 96 managers will be hired to work at The Rose and they will make an average of $70,000 a year.
According to Colonial Downs, the new casino would generate $11.3 million a year in new tax revenue for Prince William County and nearly $80,000 a year for Dumfries.
If the pitch is accepted, construction of the new casino will start in August this year, which means that Potomac Landfill will be closed 11 years earlier than planned.
The casino will take 22 acres of the property with 79 acres remaining that will be converted into a park with sports fields, trails and open space.
The town documents stated that the park would open in December 2022 and the casino would open only a month later. This is if everything goes according to plan.
The Potomac Landfill
The town agreed with the landfill in 2016 to close the facility. The closing date was set for 2032. At that time, the town planned on turning the site into a public park.
The problem for the landfill started in 2011 when the neighbors and drivers on the Interstate 95 complained of sulfur smell. It was permeated the surrounding area so the facility needed to shut down.
Rosie’s Gaming Emporium is the first gaming facility to open its doors in Northern Virginia. Since its opening, more than 21,000 people have visited the gaming parlor in the shopping center.
The property has donated more than $75,000 to charity since it started operating and has created 100 jobs for the locals. Its establishment was made possible by the legalization of gambling in Dumfries in November 2019.
A citywide referendum passed with more than 60% of the vote, following an extensive advertising campaign by Colonial Downs.

Bwin’s Russian-licensed online gambling site has permanently shut its digital doors, while Bet365’s Russian plans appear to be just getting started. This weekend, the Bwin.ru site stopped working for local bettors, who found the site’s home page displaying a message saying only that the site was “unavailable at present,” citing unspecified “system maintenance work.” The site’s social media feeds went silent and questions regarding the outage went unanswered. On Monday, Bwin.ru confirmed that its closure was permanent, based on “rapidly changing realities and new legislative initiatives.” In order to “make Bwin’s withdrawal from the Russian market as comfortable as possible for all customers, we have reached an agreement with one of the industry leaders, Parimatch.”Bwin customers will reportedly find the funds held in the Bwin.ru accounts transferred to Parimatch.ru, and customers who decide to wager with Parimatch “will be able to receive a unique bonus offer.” The migration to Parimatch will reportedly be complete by the end of the month. The statement featured comments from Parimatch Russia CEO Ruslan Medved, who noted that “not all companies are now able to compete with the mastodons and, no less important, with the market itself and its realities.” Medved said Parimatch would make the migration “as painless as possible for everyone without sacrificing loyalty.” Bwin became the first western betting brand to launch in Russia in November 2017 through a partnership between its UK parent company GVC Holdings (since rebranded as Entain) and local outfit Digital Betting LLC. The former supplied the betting technology while the latter supplied the bookmaking license and was supposed to also provide marketing muscle.Bwin.ru’s former CEO Dmitry Sergeyev left to join Parimatch’s Russian-licensed site in May 2019 and Bwin.ru was reportedly sold to Cyprus-based Nirevia Holdings Ltd in February 2020. Sergeyev later revealed that Digital Betting owner Alexander Mamut never came through with the marketing funds he’d originally promised and the site’s popularity languished as a result. Russia’s online betting market took a pandemic hit last spring but the situation grew far tougher as the year drew to a close, culminating in the adoption of tough new regulations that demanded significantly greater financial contributions from bookmakers to Russian sports bodies.VulkanBet, which like Bwin.ru had struggled to gain acceptance with local bettors, surrendered its Russian license in December, convinced that the new regulations would render future operations even less likely to chip away market share from market-leaders Fonbet, Winline, Liga Stavok, BetCity and Parimatch. BET365.RU LAUNCH IMMINENT?That pejorative view doesn’t seem to be shared by UK-based online betting giant Bet365, which eGaming Review reported last week had registered the Bet365.ru domain with a local web registry. Bet365’s Russian license is reportedly awaiting final approval from the Federal Tax Service.Bet365’s interest in a Russian-licensed operation has been bubbling under since February 2019, when the company was said to be just a few months away from launching a Russian site. But that June, a bizarre incident occurred in which Russian authorities intercepted a shipment of 400kg of cocaine, each brick stamped with stickers bearing Bet365’s distinctive green and yellow logo. It’s unclear whether that incident had any bearing on Bet365’s apparent decision that the timing for a Russian launch wasn’t optimal. Meanwhile, Russia’s telecom watchdog Romskomnadzor continued to add Bet365-affiliated domains to its online gambling blacklist, with Bet365.com making the grade as recently as May 2020.
