Germany warns online casino
Germany is imposing strict regulations on online gambling. The government warned online casino operators against immediately applying rules agreed in the new federal gambling treaty. Reports circulated that lawyers of the state urged internationally licensed online gambling companies operating in Germany to pretend that the new rules are already enforced to avoid enforcement actions.
In Germany, sixteen states approved a new federal gambling framework that will legalize operations of online casinos and poker products starting July 1, 2021. However, services of the gambling facilities should follow strict limits on deposits and wagers on online slots.
Online casino operators in Germany hoped to gain a license to operate in the country. The German government mandated that the operators stop operating in the country until the scheduled date, but some casinos failed to comply.
State Chancelleries, in some states, formed a working group that will draft the resolution, which will be the basis for enforcement actions against violators of the government mandate.
