Effects of high rake preflight
Working my way up slowly and been playing 10nl on PokerStars. Generally follow Jonathon Little’s pre flop charts, with a 2.5BB open raise and a polarised 3betting range.
Recently I have seen some of the charts at overnightmonster.com by Alvin teaches poker. From what I understand they recommend some slightly different look on low stake (and therefore high rake games). For example:
-
Opening larger more like 4BB
-
Pretty much no flat calling range (EP-CO) and just 3bet
-
3 bet range is more linear.
From my understanding the thinking is to win more pots pre flop to avoid the effects of rake. I am pretty new to Poker so I may have misunderstood it…
What are your thoughts on this approach?
